Arnold hurls Rams to 6-1 victory

Summit, IL (April 5, 2011) - After getting roughed up in his first varsity start on the mound last Saturday against Lincoln Way East, Josh Arnold came back with a strong outing against conference foe Argo this afternoon. The Rams won 6-1 and the junior right-hander threw a complete game, allowing just one earned run on four hits.

After pitching out of jams in both the first and second innings, Arnold (1-1) settled into a groove and held the Argonauts hitless the rest of the game.  "Josh&;s curveball looked good today," said Coach Czarnecki, "and because he works so quickly, he always keeps his fielders in the game and on their toes."

Offensively, the Rams (5-4; 2-0) capitalized on an Argo miscue in the second inning to score four runs.  After Brandon Hines and Jake Stano singled, Cameron Koepke reached on an error that scored Hines.  Later in the inning, both David Beltran and Matt Javorski had RBI hits.

Stano added a two out RBI single in the third inning and Koepke&;s fielder&;s choice plated Rob Rabakozi in the fifth inning.

The Rams&; next game is Thursday against TF South at Czarnecki Field.
