Rams score season-high 14 runs in DDE win

Burbank, IL (April 23, 2011) - On a soggy Saturday morning, the Reavis offense pounded out a season-high 14 runs in its 14-4 victory over Eisenhower at Czarnecki Field.

The Rams jumped out to a early 3-0 lead when Matt Javorski led off the bottom of the first inning with a single and was driven home on Rob Rabakozi&;s double.  Brandon Hines then singled home Rabakozi, and Hines eventually scored on Alex Morales&; sacrifice fly.

Key hits by Jake Stano and Alex Morales in the third inning helped Reavis build its lead to 6-0.  The Cardinals got back into the game when they scored one run in the fifth inning and three more in the sixth off relievers Anthony Doory and Hines.

However, in the bottom of the sixth inning, the Rams batted through the order, scored eight runs, and finally won the game on a walk-off three-run home run by David Beltran, his second of the season.  Hector Cirilo, Rabakozi, Stano, and Garret Rhodes also collected hits in the frame.

Starting pitcher Zack Mackowiak picked up his first varsity win on the mound.  The junior pitched four scoreless innings, scattering four hits and striking out five Cardinals.

The Rams play Shepard at Czarnecki Field on Monday.  Former two-time Reavis baseball MVP Brian Brost (1963-64) will throw out the first pitch at the Shepard game.
