Rams escape scare against TF North

Calumet City, IL (May 12, 2011) - The Rams scored three runs in the seventh inning to edge the TF North Meteors 6-5 this afternoon.  The win keeps the Rams in second place in the SSC Red race, trailing Richards by a half game.

Trailing 5-3 in the final inning, Rob Rabakozi (3 for 4; HR; RBI) started the rally with a one out single to left field.  After Brandon Hines walked, Jake Stano&;s double plated Rabakozi and moved Hines to third base.  Alex Morales then popped out to first base for the second out.  With David Beltran at the plate, Hines scored the tying run on a wild pitch.  Beltran followed with a double to left field that scored Stano with the go-ahead run.

Rabakozi struck out the side in the bottom of the seventh inning to preserve the victory for the Rams.

"This certainly wasn&;t the best  win for us," said Coach Erickson.  "We didn&;t play like a team that has a chance to win a conference title.  I hope it&;s a wake up call and that we realize we can&;t just show up and win--we need a better effort."

"We dodged a bullet today, but I liked the way we battled in the seventh inning.  Those hits by Rob, Jake, and Dave were big!"
