Rams' comeback not enough against the Roadrunners

Burbank, IL (March 19, 2012) - Despite pounding out 17 hits, the Rams fell to Nazareth 12-10 Monday afternoon at Czarnecki Field .  The Roadrunners scored nine runs in the first inning on four errors by the Reavis defense.  "We gave them seven outs to open the game, and a good team like Nazareth is definitely going to capitalize on it," said Coach Erickson.

The Rams scored three runs in the bottom of the first and five more in the second, to cut the Roadrunners lead to 9-8.  Jake Stano (4 for 5; 3B; 4 RBI), Richie Velez(3 for 5; 2 R), and Mike Lally (3 for 5) all had big RBI&;s in the two rallies. 
 
Reliever Zack Mackowiak shut the Nazareth hitters down in the middle innings and Reavis tied the score in the bottom of the fourth inning with a two-out double by Dan Meskill (2 for 2; 2B; 2 RBI). 

In the fifth inning, Nazareth scored another unearned run, but the Rams tied the score once again in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single from Matt Javorski (3 for 5; RBI).

In the seventh inning, Nazareth added two more runs and their closer ended the game in the bottom half of the frame, retiring Stano with O&;Hara at second base.

"We could have just rolled over when they jumped out to a 9-0 lead, but our guys never gave up.  We just came up a little short in the end," said Erickson.  "I&;m happy with the way we battled, though,

The Rams (2-1) take on Stagg Tuesday in Palos Hills.
