Rams fall to Top-Ranked Lyons Township

LaGrange, IL (March 27, 2012) - Despite out-hitting Lyons Township in Monday&;s game, the Rams gave up five runs late in the contest and lost 6-4 Monday.

Reavis had the number one team in the state on the ropes throughout most of the game. David Beltran&;s RBI double in the first inning and solo home run in the fifth inning gave the Rams a 3-1 lead. Starting pitcher Zack Mackowiak kept the Lions&; hitters at bay, throwing four innings and allowing one run on one hit and six walks.

However, late inning miscues and a lack of offense with runners in scoring position hurt the Rams again, and the Lions scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth off reliever Tom Pindelski and added three more runs in the sixth to take a 6-3 lead into the last inning.

Reavis threatened in the seventh with hits from Beltran, Joe O&;Hara, and Josh Arnold, and brought the go-ahead run to the plate. However, the rally ended when LT pitcher Robare struck out Leo Hernandez to end the game.

The Rams (2-4) play at St. Rita in the annual Battle for 77th Street on Wednesday.
