St. Rita wins Battle of 77th Street game

Chicago, IL (March 28, 2012) - St. Rita defeated Reavis 9-1 on Wednesday in the 14th Annual Bronze Glove Classic- Battle of 77th Street rivalry game. The Mustangs rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to put the game out of reach.

Junior pitcher Dan Meskill pitched well in the loss, allowing three runs on three hits over 3.1 innings pitched.  Offensively, the Rams collected seven hits on the day, including two each by Jake Stano and Mike Lally. 

The winner of the game earns the right to keep the travelling Bronze Glove trophy, and the Mustangs have dominated the rivalry as of late.  Since 2001, St. Rita has brought the trophy home every year except in 2011.

Today&;s game is the fifth straight loss for the Rams in a particularly difficult portion of their schedule.  They will look to break the streak Thursday when they open up the conference schedule against Tinley Park.
