Rams win SSC opener

Tinley Park, IL (March 29, 2012) - The Rams (3-5; 1-0) scored eight runs in the first two innings and held on to beat Tinley Park 8-5 in the first conference game of the season. 
Reavis plated three runs in the top of the first inning when David Beltran (2 for 3; 2 2B; 3 RBI) doubled home Matt Javorski and Mike Lally.  Later in the inning, Jake Stano&;s sacrifice fly scored Velez.

The Titans scored one run off starting pitcher Josh Arnold in the bottom of the first on an error and RBI single.

In the top of the second inning, the Ram offense increased their lead to 8-1 when they pounded out six hits, including RBI doubles by Beltran and Joe O&;Hara and RBI singles from Richie Velez and Stano (2 for 3; 3 RBI). 

Tinley Park cut the lead to 8-4 in the third inning when Arnold walked two Titans and allowed an two RBI double to the DH Neylon.  Although Arnold didn&;t have his best stuff, he battled through five innings and picked up his second victory of 2012. 

Senior Zack Mackowiak pitched well in relief and recorded the save.  The right-hander worked the last two innings, allowing one earned run on two hits and two strike-outs. 

The Rams&; next game is Saturday at Lincoln Way East.  The varsity game will be played at 10:00 am and the start time of the JV contest is 12:00.
