Rams lose a heartbreaker at Shepard

Palos Heights, IL (April 23, 2012) - The Astros scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat the Rams 4-3 Monday afternoon.

Despite collecting only three hits in the game, the Rams were able to take a 3-1 lead into the final frame.  Pitcher Anthony Doory struck out the first Astro hitter before allowing a walk.  However, he was able to record the second out of the inning with another of his eight strike-outs on the day.  The Rams were not able to close down the game, though, and committed three errors that helped the Astros plate three runners and come from behind to win the SSC game.  "We have struggled to finish games this season," said Coach Erickson.  "We played a solid game and Doory threw really well today, but you can&;t play six innings of baseball and expect good teams like Shepard to roll over give you the game in the final inning."

The Rams (8-15; 4-5) host Shepard Tuesday at Czarnecki Field.
