Rams win another nail-biter

Burbank, IL (May 11, 2012) - The Rams kept their conference title hopes alive on Thursday with a 2-1 extra-inning victory over T.F. North .  Reavis (14-16; 10-5) collected three of their four total hits in the eighth inning, including a walk-off RBI single off the bat of junior Richie Velez.

With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Leo Hernandez reached on an infield single.  He then advanced to third on a base hit to right field by Josh Arnold, who was thrown out trying to advance to second base for the second out.  "Josh had a great at-bat," said Coach Erickson.  "He wasn&;t able to get the bunt down, but he stayed on the two-strike pitch and did a nice job driving the ball the other way."  With the game-winning run on third base, Velez hit a missle by the Meteor third baseman on the first pitch to capture the victory for the Rams -- their six straight conference win.

Senior right-hander Zack Mackowiak pitched two scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win.  Starter Jake Stano threw six innings, allowing no earned runs on one hit.

The Rams play Evergreen Park Saturday at 11:00 at Czarnecki Field.
