Burbank, IL (March 4, 2013) - The Reavis athletic department is pleased to announce that Richie Velez has signed to play baseball next year at Rock Valley College in Rockford, Illinois.
Rock Valley head coach Kevin Vest travelled to Burbank Saturday morning and inked the deal with the senior infielder before the Rams' practice. "I watched Richie play in the Area Code games this summer," said Coach Vest, "and I really like what I saw. He is a no-nonsense type of kid who is very respectful and we think he will fit in nicely with our program."
Vest also is excited about Velez's versatility on the field. "I see him hitting anywhere from 1-4 in the line-up and playing multiple positions, depending on our needs next year."
Velez looks forward to becoming a Golden Eagle as well. He said, "the campus is great and they just put up a multi-million dollar sports complex."
