Rams win slugfest over Spartans

Burbank, IL (April 16, 2014) - Led by home runs from Jose Romero and Jake Aguilar, the Rams (3-8; 1-2) pounded out 12 hits in their 12-11 victory over Oak Lawn yesterday at Czarnecki Field.

After falling behind 1-0 early, Reavis scored four runs in the second inning, three in the third, and three more in the fourth to take a commanding 10-3 lead.  Lael Robles (3 for 4; 2B; RBI), Matt Kopp (2 for 3; 2B; RBI), Gil Loza 2 for 4; RBI), Belal Abuzir, and Romero all collected hits during these three Ram rallies.  However, the Spartans knocked starting pitcher Abuzir out of the game in the bottom of the fifth when they scored seven runs to tie the game at 10.

With two outs in the sixth inning, Aguilar answered with a two-run home run to left field that proved to be the game-winner.  Matt Barajas (1-1) came in relief to pick up the victory on the mound while Romero retired the final two Oak Lawn hitters to pick up his first save of the season.

The Rams are on the road tomorrow against Hillcrest.
