Rams Honor 2001-02 Squad

Burbank, IL (February 21, 2012) - The Reavis athletic program honored the 2001-02 basketball team tonight at half-time of the varsity game against St. Laurence.   Members of the squad, who are celebrating the 10th anniversary of their conference championship, were announced at half-time and presented t-shirts to commemorate their accomplishments.

The 2001-02 team far surpassed preseason media expectations. Picked to finish in the bottom half of the six team SICA North, this gritty group fought its way to a 7-3 conference record, finishing alone on top for the first time in Reavis basketball history.

Highlights were a 59-32 pounding of Chicago Christian for a Reavis Thanksgiving Tournament Championship. The Rams also finished third over-all in the competitive 16 team field at the Lemont Christmas Classic. This is the highest finish ever by any Reavis team.

The SICA North Conference Championship was captured with a win on the road at Argo.

The Rams defeated a strong Morton team 57-55 in the first round of regional play before being defeated by a ranked
Proviso West squad 60-50 on West&;s home floor.

This group finished with a 20-7 record, tying it with the third most wins in school history.
