Summer Happenings - Week 2

Burbank, IL (June 11, 2011) –

The Reavis Rams started camp this week and have been working hard on individual skills, as well as, learning plays.

Tuesday - The Varsity Rams played Evergreen Park at the Shepard Summer League.  The Rams were victorious and sophomore Stephanie Verduzco did a nice job in the paint. “The girls have a lot of learning to do, but have been doing well with many changes,” said Coach Miskowicz.

Wednesday - The Sophomore Rams took the court against host Argo at the Argo Sophomore League.  “They hustled up and down the floor, but just could not get going on offense,” said Coach Burzic.

Thursday - The Varsity Rams were back in action at Shepard.  They took on Argo and lost by 3 in the final minutes.  Coach Gamino said, “The girls were working the ball around but made too many mistakes.  At the end when we needed free-throws, we didn’t get any.”

Friday & Saturday – The Varsity Rams participated in the tough 16-team Oak Lawn High School Shootout. Reavis opened up against state powerhouse, Whitney Young, on Friday night. Young took the lead from the start and never looked back. “They played their typical fast-paced game and we just couldn’t keep up said Coach Miskowicz.
The Rams went on to play Providence in their second game where the defensive effort was much better. Coach Miskowicz commented, “Our girls started to push the ball more offensively, but let Providence shoot too many uncontested 3 pointers. Our timing is off, so we will definitely be working on that next week.”
Play continued on Saturday and the Rams opened up with Argo.  Looking to take it to them, the Rams just could not put together anything on the offensive end.  Reavis bounced back with a win over Queen of Peace, however. "It was a much better effort offensively the second game.  The girls need to be more confident when they are open" said Coach Miskowicz.
