Summer Happenings - Week 5

Burbank, IL (June 30, 2011) -

The girls continued summer game play this week as they competed at Richards, Argo, and Moraine Valley.

Reavis&; Varsity Rams started the week out on Tuesday playing at Richards High School in Oak Lawn.  The girls had back-to-back games taking on the Oak Forest Bengals first then the Oak Lawn Spartans second.  The first half of the Oak Forest game, the Rams played great defense but could not get their offense going.  Things turned around offensively the second half but they came up short.  The Rams led the Oak Lawn game majority of the time, but could not connect on free throws at the end to seal it.  The Spartans stormed back and forced overtime.  Oak Lawn drained a 3-pointer to start and the Rams could not answer back. "I was pleased with our energy the second game, we just have to learn how to finish close games" said Coach Miskowicz.  On Thursday, the Rams traveled to Moraine Valley Community College in Palos Heights to take on Oak Forest for the second time this week.  The Rams were prepared and played tough.  They came up 4 points short at the end though. "The girls did a nice job defensively at the end to force turnovers, but then could not get anything to fall" said Coach Miskowicz of the game.

The Sophomore Rams were at Argo this Wednesday and they took on the Oak Lawn Spartans.  The Rams played basket for basket, but came up one point short. Coach Burzic said, "We played well, but missed many opportunities we were given in the open court and at the free-throw line."

The Varsity Rams are done with summer games, but will begin their summer workout sessions starting next Tuesday.  The Sophomores will be back in action at Argo against Riverside-Brookfield.
