Lansing, IL (February 11, 2011) -
SSC coaches met at T.F. South High School for the annual meeting to choose the conference's best players for all-conference. Two Reavis players garned awards at the meeting. Sophomore, Stephanie Verduzco received SSC All-Conference and teammate Nat Skolarus, senior, nabbed Honorable Mention. Congratulations to both Rams!
Stephanie made a fantastic debut in her first Varsity season. The sophomore played in all 26 games for the Rams, and finished the season averaging a double-double with 12.1 points per game and grabbing 10.1 rebounds per game. Steph recorded 12 double-doubles on the season and she shot 55% from the field. Stephanie has received several accolades this season in addition to SSC All-Conference: she named to the All-Tournament team at the Riverside-Brookfield Invite, and was nominated for both Player of the Year for the SSC-Red Division and IBCA All-State team. According to Coach Miskowicz, “Steph is a phenomenal athlete, she is always looking to improve her game. She stays after practice and runs extra for missing layups in games, definitely what every coach wants from a player.”
Nat has been in the program for four years, three of which were on Varsity. This year, the senior stepped up huge and was one of the team's leading scorers. She average 8.0 points per game and received the team's Best 3-Point Shooter award. "Nat worked hard in the offseason to perfect her shot and it paid off. She was one of our team's go-to players and had the green light to shoot. Even if she was off, she would stay positive and keep shooting" said Coach Miskowicz.
