Hazelcrest, IL (October 6, 2010) - The girls' cross country team went 6-1 yesterday afternoon at the Hazelcrest Basin course, beating Richards, Eisenhower, Oak Lawn, Argo, Shepard, and Tinley Park. Their only loss came to Hillcrest.
The Rams finished the regular season with a record of 18-3, beating the previous mark of 11-2 set in 2008 for the best record in the history of the school. "I am so proud of our ladies for breaking the record," said coach Laurie Schoenfeld. "What is great race they ran!"
Karolina Komperda and Hannah Howard led the way with a 4th and 5th place finish in the 97 girl race. Paulina Okreglak finished 10th, while Nicole Maier ran a gutsy race finishing 14th. Karolina Okreglak helped our the team score placing 21th, and Sabina Bukowska and Maggie Wojtowicz ate up some valuable points as pushers with a 24th and 32nd place finish.
