Reavis graduate Jessica Watychowicz is an All-American for NCAA Div II Cross Country

Joplin, Missouri (November 17, 2012).  University of Wisconsin-Parkside runner Jessica Watychowicz, who is a 2009 Reavis graduate, is now officially an All-American athlete.  She qualified for the NCAA Division II national cross country meet in Kenosha, Wisconsin two weeks.  Then she fulfilled her dreams Saturday in Joplin, Missouri as she finished the 6K course in 21:11, finishing 32nd place overall out of 245 runners nationally.  The top 40 runners receive the honor of being All-American.  Coach Schoenfeld did not see Jessica run in person, but commented that it streamed live through NCAA at her home.  "I was screaming at my computer Saturday!  And when I saw the results that Jessica will be All-American, I could not be more happy or more proud as a former coach!"  Jessica has had many accomplishments so far at Parkside, but this one takes the cake.  She has received numerous All-Conference honors in cross country and in track and field.  She is the course record holder at UW-Parkside for the home course in cross country and won the Lucian Rosa Invitational.  She also qualified for NCAA Division II outdoor track and field Nationals in the 1500m run and the 5K run last year as a Junior.  Unfortunately, she did not make the finals in either event, but it gave her a lot of experience for meets of this kind.  And it proved positive as now she can say that she is an All-American athlete.  Way to go Jessica!
