Rams Offense Explodes for Eighteen

Palos Heights, IL (May 19, 2011) - Reavis&;s bats came alive on Thursday at Shepard as the Rams torched the Astros for 18 runs and 24 hits in the 18-9 rout.  Reavis scored in every inning except one, yet, as they entered the top of the seventh inning, they led by only a single run. "I told the girls we needed at least 3 runs in our half to secure a win. They went out and scored 8," said Coach Jim Meskill after the game. Included in the seventh inning were a 2-run homerun by Sarah Saunders (4-5, 2B, HR, 3RBI) to put the rams up 12-9, and then a Grand Slam off the bat of Jen LoRusso (3-5, HR, 5RBI) put the game away. In addition to picking up her seventh win in the circle, Meghan Higgins (4-4, 3RBI) also had a huge day at the plate.

The win ends the Rams regular season at 18-10 including 15-4 in the SSC. That mark is good enough for a second place finish in the Red Division. The Rams next game will be versus Argo on Wednesday, May 25 at 4:30 in IHSA Regional action at Reavis.
