Burbank, IL (4/3/12) - Congratulations to Sophomore Varsity Player Ally Balandis on being recognized as the Jenny's Steakhouse/Southtown Star's Softball Player of the Week for her performance last week. In four games last week, Ally batted a whopping .692 (9-for-13) at the plate, including two doubles and a triple, scored seven runs and drove in five. She was also successful in stealing three bases without being thrown out.
"It's a credit to her work ethic and approach as our team captain," Coach Jim Meskill stated upon hearing the news. "She works hard everyday whether it's practice or a game. In fact, she works harder in practices than any player I've coached. This is her payoff." Ally is the first Ram to be honored with the Player of the Week Award since 2010, when her big sister, Caitlyn (2011 grad, current St. Francis student/athlete) won the same distinction.
