Rams Notch Win Over Bremen

April 1, 2013 (Burbank, IL) - The Varsity Softball team got off to a slow start this season, losing their first 4 games of the 2013 season. However, as the calendar turned to April, the Rams turned their fortune, defeating the visiting Braves from Bremen, 6-5, Monday night in Burbank. "We've been close in nearly every game. It has come down to one or two plays in each one. We finally made the plays to win and I expect the solid play to continue," Coach Jim Meskill stated after the game. Reavis improved to 1-2 in the SSC Red, and 1-4 overall.

The Rams fell behind early, allowing an unearned run in the top of the first, but scored in the bottom of the inning when Ashley Galason drove in Jamie Harcar to tie the score. Reavis took the lead in the third inning on Ally Balandis's sacrifice fly to center field, plating Miranda Galason. After Bremen took the lead 3-2 in the top of the sixth, Daisy Perez tied the game in the bottom of the inning with a single that drove in Ashley Galason. Reavis would score four in the sixth, ending with an RBI double by Maryssa Meskill, giving the Rams a 6-3 lead. The Braves would score twice in the top of the seveth, but pitcher Ally Balandis shut the door on any Bremen comeback.
