Arnold Crowned SSC Champ

Midlothian, IL (January 28, 2011) - Junior Josh Arnold became the first Reavis wrestler in two years to place first in the SSC Conference Tournament when he defeated Ryan Abney from Tinley Park 10-7 this afternoon at Eisenhower High School.  Arnold, who placed third in last year&;s tournament, definitely wanted to prove he was the top SSC wrestler at 103 lbs.  "I was a little nervous going into the final round," he said, "but I was confident because I had beaten Abney earlier in the season 2-1."

Arnold pinned his opponent from TF South in the semi-final round to set up the rematch with Abney.  Head Coach Eric Novak certainly was impressed.  "Josh did what we expected from him and he is continuing to have a great season," Novak commented.  "We are looking forward to Josh continuing his quest toward qualifying for state."

As a team, the Rams took fourth place out of 14 schools, behind Lemont, Argo, and TF South.

Other medal-winners for the Rams included Dylan Dybalski (2nd at 130 lbs.), Brian Taraszka (3rd at 112 lbs.), and Kevin Trujillo (3rd at 125 lbs.)

The junior varsity Rams won the SSC Conference Tournament held at Oak Lawn today with four wrestlers placing first individually.
