The Varsity Rams traveled to T.F.S. on Saturday to compete in the 14 team South Suburban Conference Tournament. Due to injuries and other complications the Rams didn't enter a full line up and placed 10th as a team. However, the Rams that were in the tournament came ready to wrestle and left it all on the mat. At the end of the day the Rams put four wrestlers on the podium. Jesus Vasquez and Sam Almousa both reached the finals and earned all conference honors. Jesus Vasquez emerged as the champion at 113lbs, avenging an earlier loss this season. Sam Almousa lost a tough decision to a state ranked opponent but battled down the stretch. Tino Abarca, who had to deal with a sore ankle all day placed 3rd at 106lbs and unseeded Kyle Galason placed 4th at 120lbs. The Rams will begin the state series this week with their regional tournament on Saturday at Hinsdale Central H.S. Top three wrestlers from each weight class will advance to the sectional tournament.
