The state series is officially underway with the 2013 Regional weekend in the books. The Rams competed in the tough Hinsdale Central Regional on Saturday. Once, again the Rams were not at full strength but still qualified two wrestlers and one alternate to the Sectional Tournament. Tino Abarca placed 3rd at 106 lbs. by defeating the same wrestler who beat him in his first match of the day. Tino showed great heart and resiliency in all of his matches. Jesus Vasquez 113 lbs. was atop the podium for a second consecutive week. Jesus earned his first Regional Championship and his second sectional qualification in as many years. Jesus is peaking at the perfect time, he has wrestled extremely tough over the past two weeks! In addition, Kyle Galason placed 4th at 120 lbs., which makes him an alternate for this weekends Sectional. This weeks Sectional will be held at Shepard H.S. and begins Friday at 5:00 pm.
