Winter Season MVP's

Girls Basketball - Senior Forward Amanda Raschke
 Amanda is a three-year varsity starter for the Rams.  In 2010-11 she was a huge offensive threat, averaging 13.6 points per game, and grabbing 10.5 rebounds per game.  According to her coach, Maggie Miskowicz, Amanda is an aggressive and tenacious basketball player.  This is Raschke’s second Most Valuable Player award, as she was named MVP for volleyball in the fall.
 
Cheerleading – Sophomore Ashlie Wiechec
This is Ashlie’s second year on the varsity competition team.  Ashlie plays a valuable role on the team as a tumbler with a back tuck and in stunting, where she can serve as both a base and a back spot.  In addition to her skills, Ashlie is also a leader in the program in other ways.  She has one of the highest attendance rates for the year, including both fall and winter seasons, she always volunteers to help roll out and put away mats, and she helps spot her teammates during tumbling.  Most importantly, though, Ashlie always gives her best effort and motivates her teammates to do the same.
 
Boys Bowling – Senior Tom Kuba
Tom, a four year varsity starter for the Rams, is a vocal leader and team captain who lead the team with a 209 average.  Tom had notable finishes at Plainfield South Invite (3rdoverall) and Vernon Hills Invite (10thoverall).  Tom is looking to continue bowling in college at Robert Morris University.  Tom Kuba also carries a 3.9 GPA, proving that he is a great example of a student athlete.
                                   
Swimming – Senior Brandon Hines
In amassing 35 first place finishes over the course of the season, Brandon Hines led the team in total Varsity points.  In his signature event, the 100 yard breaststroke, he was nearly undefeated with 12 first places out of 15 races.  As a four year swimmer, he has accumulated more points than anyone presently on the team.  He is a two-time Varsity MVP who leads by example.  His leadership is second to none. 
 
Girls Bowling-Senior Beth Bogdanich
Beth is a caring young lady that always put her team first.  She helped with the frosh/soph team and cheered on her teammates. As lead off she had to throw the first ball in a match. Beth took 5thplace at conference and 2ndplace at sectionals, she finished State 96thout of the 2060 girls who participated in the state. The senior also has a 178 practice average and a 180 competitive average which are the highest combined averages on the team.
 
 
Boys Basketball- Senior Center Michael Jerkovich
Mike led the Rams on and off the floor this season with his winning attitude and excellent work ethic.  His 15.5 PPG and 10.5 RPG are among the area’s leaders.  Mike is a strong candidate for SSC Red player of the year.  The senior was also the only Southland athlete to be named SouthtownStar Player of the Week twice this season.
 
Wrestling – Junior 103 lbs. Josh Arnold
Josh had an incredible record this season at 31-7.  He led his team in wins and team points and placed in several tournaments including 3rdat the Stagg Invite, 3rdat the Glenbard West Invite, and 4that the Lincoln Way East Invite.  The junior also placed 1stin conference, 3rdin regionals and was one match away from qualifying for State.
