Soccer Boys Coaches

Jim Ward
Assistant Coach

Coach Ward has been around Reavis soccer since 1997 and has coached Boys Freshmen, Sophomore,  and Varsity teams. He headed the girls program from 1998-2008. Jim was awarded Reavis Coach of the Year in 2002 and IHSSCA Section 13 Assistant Coach of the Year in 2008.  Jim earned his Bachelor’s of Science at Illinois State University holds Master degrees from Chicago State University, Lewis University and Olivet Nazarene University.  He works as a Industrial TechnologyTeacher and Summer School Principal at Reavis High School. Favorite Reavis Soccer Moment:  There are many to choose from. Ward has great rapport with players, parents, and staff and has been a tremendous asset to both the girls and boys soccer programs at Reavis! My favorite moments are when alumni come back and tell me they had fun and enjoyed being part of the Reavis soccer program.  Outside of Reavis Coach Ward stays busy volunteering at St Linus, coaching and watching his children play sports.

Jim is married to Kathy and has 5 wonderful children Tessy, Missy, Maggie, Lizzie and Jimmy are always on the move to enjoy the next scheduled activity. 

John Larocca
Assistant Coach

John started teaching  at Crete – Monee High School in 1990. He coached basketball and football for two years.  Then he started coaching and teaching at Reavis High School.  John coached boys basketball and girls softball.  He has been coaching boys soccer at Reavis since 2005. Larocca is currently the Sophomore Head Coach, in his seasons with the Rams he has won over 150 games and the programs conference championships in 2009, 2012, & 2104. John attended Homewood – Flossmoor High School and played basketball and soccer for all four years.  He then proceeded to Illinois State University and got his degree in Mathematics. He received his master’s in education  from Governors State University and Chicago State University.
 
John is married to Mary Kay (McEldowney) and has  two daughters, Samantha and Madison.

Phil Basile
Assistant Coach

Coach Basile has been teaching and coaching at Reavis since 2006 working with both the boys and girls programs.  He attended Providence Catholic High School where he played soccer and wrestled.  Afterwards, Coach Basile attended Saint Xavier University where he played on the men’s soccer team.  While at SXU he earned his BA in Studio Art and then went on to earn his Master’s in Secondary Education.  Outside of teaching and coaching he plays in a men’s soccer league, and is training for marathon running.  Coach Basile’s favorite movie is Titanic and interests include painting and drawing, carpentry, working on cars, and cooking.  His favorite memories as a player are winning super-sectionals at home his senior of high school to advance to state, and starting his first game as a freshman at Saint Xavier versus Wheaton College.  As a coach, his  favorite memories are beating De LaSalle to take 3rdplace in the girls Ram Invite in 2010, and winning the 32 team Windy City Ram Classic at Toyota Park during the 2010 boys season.
