Chicago, IL (May 20, 2011) - Congratulations to senior Nick Solis for qualifying for the IHSA State track meet yesterday in both the shot-put and the discus events!
After a grueling Tuesday quad with cross town rivals Oak Lawn the Rams rebounded with a solid performance from top to bottom on Thursday. The icy wind slowed some times; not even a strong tailwind could push the sprinters to new personal bests. That didn't stop the Rams from piling up 86 and 75 points on the Frosh/Soph and Varsity levels.
The Frosh/Soph Rams finished 4th, missing 3rd by 8 points while the Varsity beat Oak Lawn by the slimmest of margins to capture 3rd. This meet has no bearing on final conference standings but it certainly raises the bar for the championship meet in May which should prove to be an action packed, tightly contested meet.
Team scores are listed in the schedule section. SImply clicko on boys track for the appropriate meet and scroll down to see the full standings.
The Rams finished ahead of Rich East in the six team invite hosted by Andrew. Points from the frosh, soph, and varsity levels were combined to crown this year's champion Andrew. Conference rivals Shepard and Bremen finished 4th and 3rd respectively.
A pair of stellar sophomores lead the scoring for the Rams. David Palac who won the sophomore edition of the 2 mile run Isaac Wheadon took 2nd in the 300 hurdles and 5th in the 110s on varsity.
In their first meet of the season the Rams started strong with a 3rd place finish at the Argo Invite. Conference foes Richards and Eisenhower were also in attendance.
In the shot put, the Rams were led by Senior Nick Solis' 3rd place finish, throwing 42'8 Senior Captain Jose Castellano broke out with a personal best throw of 39'0 1/2".
