Swimmers Finish 3rd at Conference Meet

Oak Lawn, IL (February 4, 2012) - The Varsity and JV teams competed at the Conference meet on Thursday and Saturday at Oak Lawn High School.  Most team members swam to significant time drops as the Varsity team finished third and the JV team finished second. 

Cody Karanosky (V) took home the third place medal in the diving competition on Thursday.  On Saturday, the teams took home even more hardware.  The JV medley relay of Ciszek, Diaz, Tylka, and Hendrickson won the conference championship.  The Varsity medley of Mysliwiec, Ortiz, Tylka and Tyrala took home second place honors with a near 2-second time drop.  Baraniak took second in the JV 200 free.  Mysliwiec won the 200 IM championship on the Varsity level with an impressive 2:10.55.  Matt Tylka won the Varsity 100 butterfly championship with a personal best 59.06.  The Tylka brothers owned the pool as Dan Tylka also won the JV 100 fly championship.  In the 500 free, the JV 1-2 punch of Castellanos and Baraniak took home the 2nd and 3rd place medals, respectively.  The JV 200 free relay of Ciszek, Tylka, Hendrickson and Baraniak took 2nd.  Mysliwiec took second in 100 breast with an important time drop as he looks towards sectionals.  In the final event of the afternoon, the JV team (Ciszek, Tylka, Hendrickson, and Baraniak) took home the second place medal while the Varsity team of Mysliwiec, Ortiz, Tylka and Tyrala followed suit with a second place finish.
