Tennis Holds Annual Family Day

Burbank, IL (September 30, 2010) - Tennis Head Coach Sue Sprovieri held her annual Family Day at the tennis courts yesterday afternoon.  The day has become a tradition both her players and their families and friends really have come to enjoy.

From 3:30 to 4:30, dozens people filled the courts as the girls challenged moms, dads, friends, or teachers to tennis matches.  "It&;s great to see all the parental support in the tennis program," said Athletic Director Don Erickson.  "I think this was the biggest crowd Coach Sprovieri has had yet."  Besides parents and friends, School Board President Ted Arnold, Booster Club President Maureen McClafferty, Superintendent Dr. Dan Riordan, and Assistant Superintendent Tim Smith were in attendance.

After the families ate dinner provided by the booster club, Sprovieri addressed the audience.  The coach thanked the girls for a great conference season - they finished undefeated in conference duals - and recognized her seniors for the dedication they have given to the program.  "I am so proud of how hard our girls have worked this year," Sprovieri said, "and it has definitely paid off.  Both our sophomores and varsity are 14-1 and having great seasons."

"Family Day is a great time to meet the parents and it is also good for the team.  They get a chance to have some fun and show Mom and Dad what they have learned throughout the season."
