Rams battle but come up short

This year&;s Ram squad features some of the toughest competitors we&;ve ever coached. They continue to fight and grind through injuries and setbacks to give it their all every time out on the track.

Senior Kevin Trujillo crashed into a runner after a crowded 4x800 exchange and ran admirably despite temporary numbness in his arm resulting from the collision. Dan Dyskiewicz gutted out his 4x200, grimacing in pain, before handing off the baton. Hector Gonzalez continues to impress with his warrior-like mentality. He came back from an incredibly tough 110 hurdle race and high jump to run the 4x200. Isaac Wheadon, after an incredible week, struggled in the 110 and ran a near flawless 300 meter hurdle race, moving all the way up to second place,  before falling. Like all Rams, he picked himself up and finished.

Still, there was a lot to be very proud of in the face of adversity. Joe Pauletic rebounded from a deep thigh bruise to take 6th in the high jump. Freshmen Joaquin Jimenez sprinted his way into a varsity meet in the 400 dash, edgin out sophomore Eduardo Flores. Sophomore standout David Palac and Senior Adam Gurke finished 4/5 in the 3200 meter run. Senior Mike Belbis ran career bests in the 100 and 200 with a sore shin. Junior Pedro Santos increased his all time best by 10 feet in the discus finishing 5th. Marco Almanza finished 5th in the 800, running a 2:09, moving him closer to his goal of breaking 2 minutes this season. Mike Amashta and Dan Marin fnished the 1600 in 6th and 7th place.

Make plans to see this year&;s group in action. They bring it every meet!
