Burbank, IL (October 15, 2010) - The girls' volleyball team (14-11; 6-6) couldn't have picked a better time to play their best game of the season - they were hosting their annual Volley for the Cure game and it was parents' night.
A packed house of fans donning pink shirts witnessed the Rams' upset victory over the Shepard Astros Thursday night. "It was an awesome game," commented head coach Tia Kryiakoulis. "It was great getting three of our girls back from injuries [Dazell, Koepke, and Balandis] and the whole team really played well together."
Things didn't start out so well, however, and the Rams found themselves down 24-14 in the first game. Then Amanda Raschke rattled off 11 straight points with her serve to give Reavis the lead. They eventually won the game 27-25 and finished off Shepard in game two 25-21.
Kryiakoulis was also impressed with the play of Sarah and Sam Saunders. "Sarah played phenomenal and Sam had 17 digs on defense. I think that's a record for us."
