The Rams travled to Argo H.S. on Thursday to take on arch rivals Oak Lawn, Argo, & T.F. North. The quad got off to a rough start as the Rams were out wrestled by O.L. 41-27. However, the Rams showed great character and battled through the adversity to defeat T.F. North 57-24 and Argo 38-27. The Rams relied on thier heavy hitters as usuale but, got a huge boost from freshmen Kevin McDonald and Vinny Vertuccui. McDonald pinned his opponent in his first varsity match of his high school career, in addition Vertuccui who was 2-1 on the night, grinded out a tough decision in a crucial swing match. Vertuccui aslo had a fall agianst T.F. North. Both of these young Rams show amazing promise! Other big nights were turned in by Matt Gonzales (3-0), Sam Almousa (2-0), Jesus Vasquez (2-0 both pins), Kyle Galason (3-0) Tino Abarca (2-1), and Patrick Ingelsby (1-1) but, won a huge match by fall against Argo. In addition Alex Banos stepped up to the varsity level and turned in two solid performances (1-1) and earned his first varsity victory. Congratulations gentelmen... The varsity Rams travel to Lincoln Way East this Friday & Saturday to compete in the 16 team Illini Classic. Good Luck!
