Lewellen All-Conference at SSC Red Conference race

Lansing, IL (October 19, 2013). The girls cross country team was once again voted Most Sportsmanship among the SSC Red Division, tor the 4th year in a row. The result of Saturday's SSC Red Division Conference meet though was a little tough to handle, as they only finished 3rd overall for the Varsity level. Yes, Michele Lewellen was All-Conference with a 2nd place finish. And yes, the team had another almost perfect season with breaking the school record yet again. But unfortunately, the nerves from such an intense race might have gotten the best of the RAM runners. They fell to Shepard and Argo, finishing 3rd in the Varsity race. Stephanie Majewski, Alejandra Hernandez, Christine Trovato, and Laura Monsreal were the scorers for the Rams, while Sabina Bukowska and Caroline Cyrwus were the Ram pushers. Coach Schoenfeld comments, "The result of that one race says one thing, but I know these kids are better than 3rd place. It comes down to one race, and unfortunately, a few of their heads just were not there, and Shepards' were." The Frosh/Soph team finished 2nd overall, with Esmeralda Flores and Jenny Vasquez finishing 4th and 8th respectively. Other Ram finishers were Hazel Andrade, Angelica Ortiz, Jennah Carlson, Ariana Lozano, and Yari Alcantara. In the Open Race, Angelina DUDA was the top finisher of almost 90 runners, while Gabby Plewa finished 2nd overall. Other top ten runners in the open race were Isabella Borzecki (4th), Weronika Staszel (6th), and Krystal Vergara (9th). Great job in that open race girls!
