Burbank, IL (April 27, 2012). The 50th Reavis Relays was cold, but a huge success Friday night. The impressive efforts of Stephanie Verduzco, Mackenzie Mellenthin, and Julie Iazzetto gave the Rams a FIRST place finish in the discus relay. And what a toss by Verduzco it was--116 feet and 8 inches. INCREDIBLE! And then just when Coach Kreil thought it could not get any better, Verduzco, Mellenthin, and Paulina Gal followed it up with a second place in the shot put relay. What a night for those four girls. A proud Coach Kreil comments, “Day by day, every girl on the throw's team keeps getting better. Erika, Stephanie, Mackenzie, Paulina, and Julie get better together as a team every day. They come to practice ready to work, whether it is learning on how to prepare mentally, get warmed-up, improve technique, stay focused, or overcome adversity, they show up and they work.” He continues…”They are a great group of young ladies who are all very coachable, and they are clicking at the right time of the season.” The distance girls held their own with a couple of solid finishes. The top finish was a second place in the Distance Medley Relay with Sam Wolfe, Paulina Gal, Susu Almousa, and Sabina Bukowska. Jenn Chavez, Katie Zimmerman, and Caroline Cyrwus did a great job in the 3x1600m relay. Sabrina Laskowski, Laura Monsreal, Jenn Chavez, and Susu Almousa did a great job also in the 4x800m relay. Thanks to all the girls for helping out make the Relays a huge success. Good luck to our Lady Rams as they are competing in the SSC Conference meet Tuesday at Oak Lawn.
