Girls track team 10-4 and breaks best overall season record

 Oak Lawn, IL  (April 24, 2012).  THE GIRLS DID IT!  The Varsity squad beat the old season best record at Tuesday&;s meet at Oak Lawn.  The NEW season best record is 10-4, and it was accomplished with a lot of heart!  Although the Rams fell a little short against TF North, the Rams beat Oak Lawn and Argo.  What a great accomplishment for our track and field team.  Final scores were TFN 87, Reavis 78, Argo 75, and Oak Lawn 36.  Let’s carry this momentum at the Conference meet, which is next Tuesday at Oak Lawn.
The top individual scorer for the Rams was junior Nicole Maier, who won both the 3200m and 1600m.  Hannah Howard  and Kelley Grzych contributed by winning the 800m and high jump respectively.  The 4x800m relay team of Hannah Howard, Sabina Bukowska, Sam Wolfe, and Michele Lewellen did a great job by finishing first.  The 4x400m relay team of Sam Wolfe, Sam Christianson, Hannah Howard, and Paulina Gal finished up the meet by also placing first.  Other top scorers were:  Kelley Grzych (2nd in the 100m hurdles), Michele Lewellen (2nd in the 800m), Paulina Gal (2nd in the shot put and 2nd in the 300m hurdles), and Stephanie Verduzco (3rd in the shot put).  The 4x100m relay team (Ashlie Wiechec, Sam Christianson, Kelley Grzych, Jessica Alexander) and the 4x200m relay team (Kelley Grzych, Sam Christianson, Jackie Rea, Jessica Alexander) both pushed it Tuesday and got the Rams some valuable sprint points.  The frosh/soph team lost to Oak Lawn and TF North, but beat Argo.  The top finishers for the Rams were Jenn Chavez (1st in the 3200m), Susu Almousa (1st in the 800m and 2nd in the 300m hurdles), Mackenzie Mellenthin (1st in the shot put and 2nd in the discus), Julie Iazzetto (1st in the discus), and Sabrina Laskowski (1st in the high jump and 3rd in the 300m hurdles).  The 4x800m relay team of Sabrina Laskowski, Susu Almousa, Laura Monsreal, and Karolina Plewa also placed first.
