Girls track and field finish THIRD at the SSC Red Conference meet

Oak Lawn, IL  (May 1, 2012).  The Varsity had their best finish at the Conference meet in at least 15 years, as they finished 3rd.  There were also 5 All-Conference Reavis athletes.  The evening started off by the 4x800m relay team of Hannah Howard, Sabina Bukowksa, Sam Wolfe, and Michele Lewellen WINNING, earning the first four All-Conference honors of the night for the Rams.  These four young ladies broke the SSC Red Division record for the 4x800m relay.  Their time last night was 10:35.52.  The old record was set back in 2008 by Argo with a time of 10:39.27.  Sophomore Stephanie Verduzco DOMINATED and earned TWO All-Conference honors, by winning both the discus and the shot put.  And then Hannah Howard wanted more, as she came back to WIN the 800m run, earning herself a second All-Conference honor for the meet.  Nicole Maier finished 2nd in both the 3200m and 1600m runs.  Paulina Gal finished 2nd in the shot put and 3rd in the 300m hurdles.  The 4x400m relay team of Sam Wolfe, Sam Christianson, Hannah Howard, and Paulina Gal finished 2nd with an impressive personal best time.  Other key contributors to the Varsity team point total were Kelley Grzych, Ashlie Wiechec, Erika Fastwolf, and Sabrina Laskowski.  The 4x200m and 4x100m relay teams fought hard also.  The frosh/soph team ALSO finished 3rd overall.  Caroline Cyrwus won the 3200m.  The discus was dominated by Julie Iazzetto and Mackenzie Mellenthin as they finished 1st-2nd respectively.  Mackenzie Mellenthin then came back and tied for 2nd in the shot put.  Susu Almousa had a solid day as she finished 3rd in the 300m hurdles and the 80m run.  Other key contributors to the Frosh/Soph team point total were Jenn Chavez, Ashley Simmons, and Cassie Cordova.  Great showing Rams!
