Charleston, IL (May 18, 2012). Sophomore Stephanie Verduzco represented the Girls Track & Field Team at STATE this weekend at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL. Steph did a phenonimal job to say the least! In the 3A shot-put event, she was seeded 34th of 37 competitors, and she finished 21st in state with a PR throw of 37'3 1/4", upsetting 13 throwers in the event. Following that performance, she competed in the discus event, having been seeded 27th of 29 throwers, and she finished 16th in state with a throw of 107'8", upsetting 13 more throwers in that event as well. Coach Schoenfeld commented, "Stephanie had an incredible amount of poise Friday for a sophomore. What a great way to end the season. We are all so proud of her!" Coach Kreil was excited, to say the very least! "I couldn't be more at proud of Stephanie and her performance at state this weekend. She was focused & poised, and the experience she gained will only benefit her for the next 2 seasons," commented Coach Kreil. Congratulations Stephanie!
