Girls compete hard in extreme cold conditions with personal bests

Country Club Hills, IL  (April 9, 2013).  The girls competed hard last night in extreme conditions at Hill Crest, beating Southland, but losing to Hill Crest and Shepard.  It was a very close finish, with Shepard scoring 92, Hill Crest scoring 84, and Reavis scoring 79.  The girls should be very proud of their competition results.  Nicole Maier finished 1st in the 3200m, Ashlie Wiechec finished 1st in the high jump, 3rd in the long jump, 3rd in the triple jump, and 3rd in the 100m hurdles.  Paulina Gal finished 1st in the shot put, 1st in the 300m hurdles, 2nd in the discus, and 5th in the long jump.  Mackenzie Mellenthin finished 1st in the discus and 3rd in the shot put.  Sabrina Laskowski finished 3rd in the high jump, 5th in the shot put, and 5th in the discus.  Alex Malmborg finished 3rd in the 400m and 5th in the 200m—not bad for a freshman competing with Varsity sprinters.  Sabina Bukowska, Nicole Maier, and Susu Almousa swept the 1600m with a 1st-2nd-3rd.  Michele Lewellen finished 3rd in the 800m.  And Maggie Wojtowicz finished 5th in the 3200m.  The Frosh/Soph team also competed well, with a few stand outs in Katie Zimmerman, Yulinana Olivares, Laura Monsreal, Isabella Borzecki, Julie Iazzetto, and Tara Rojas.
