Blue Island, IL (May 1, 2013). Congrats to the team for earning its 3rd straight Sportsmanship Award! The Varsity team also finished an incredible 2nd place finish at the SSC Red Division Conference meet, earning over 115 points in the meet. All-Conference honors goes out to junior Paulina Gal in both the shot put and discus, as she won both of them. Paulina also earned a new SSC Red Division record in the discus with a 123 foot, 7 inch throw. Paulina also got 2nd in the 800m and 3rd in the 300m hurdles, earning her an incredible 34 points overall for the meet. All-Conference honors also goes out to junior Michele "Gaga" Lewellen, as she won the 800m. Michele also helped the team by anchoring both the 4x400m relay (3rd) and the 4x800m relay (2nd). The 4x800m relay team (Sabina Bukowska, Maggie Wojtowicz, Jocelyn Acost, and Michele Lewellen) was less than ONE second away from winning the relay and ran a personal best relay time of over 30 seconds. The 4x400m relay team of Sam Christianson, Alex Malmborg, Susu Almousa, and Michele Lewellen also ran a personal best time of almost 20 seconds. Many Rams scored for the team and contributed many points: Sylvia Kozielski (4th in the 100m and 6th in the long jump), Kelley Grzych (3rd in the 100m hurdles and 2nd in the high jump), Ashlie Wiechec (5th in the 100m hurdles, 6th in the triple jump, and 5th in the long jump), Nicole Maier (3rd in the 3200m and 5th in the 1600m), Susu Almousa (5th in the 3200m), Alex Malmborg (5th in the 400m), Sabina Bukowska (4th in the 1600m), Mackenzie Mellenthin (3rd in the shot put and 4th in the discus), Sam Christianson (3rd in the triple jump), and Sabrina Laskowski (4th in the high jump). The 4x200m relay team of Sam Christianson, Kelley Grzych, Ashley Simmons, and Sylvia Kozielski finished 5th. Coach Laurie Schoenfeld comments, "I have never been more proud of a group of young ladies! We had a goal, and the girls did exactly what they needed to do to finish the highest the team has ever finished in a Conference meet." She continues, "Great job also to our two All-Conference athletes--Paulina Gal and Michele Lewellen." The frosh/soph team finished 4th place overall. Scorers for the frosh/soph Rams were Tara Rojas (3rd in the 100m hurdles and 4th in the 300m hurdles), Laura Monsreal (6th in the 1600m), Nicole Bochenski (5th in the 300m hurdles and 6th in the high jump), Stephanie Majewski (4th in the 3200m), Julie Iazzetto (2nd in the discus and 6th in the shot put), Katie Zimmerman (6th in the long jump), Casie Cordova (4th in the 400m), Paulina Marusarz (4th in the 800m), and Jenny Vasquez (5th in the 800m). The 4x400m relay team of Casie Cordova, Monica Gutierrez, Paulina Marusarz, and Jenny Vasquez finished 2nd.
