Paulina Gal signs National Letter of Intent at LOYOLA UNIVERSITY

 

Burbank, IL  (May 14, 2014).    Reavis High School is proud to announce that senior Paulina Gal has signed a NCAA Division I -- National Letter of Intent to compete in Track and Field at Loyola University in Chicago, IL.  Paulina has been an outstanding athlete over the past four years in track and field, and is excited to continue this success at Loyola.  She qualified for the IHSA state meet last year as a junior in the discus and 300m hurdles.  Her accomplishments this year has been incredible so far.  She broke the SSC Red records in both shot put and discus this season at the conference meet.  Paulina won the 800m, discus, and shot put at the SSC Red Conference meet, which earned her All-Conference recognition in all three of those events.  She also has broken the Reavis Track and Field records for the all-time best discus throw and best time in the 300m hurdles.

Coach Laurie Schoenfeld comments, "Paulina Gal is a beast!  She is one of the best athletes that I have coached.  She has such a great work ethic, which will help as she heads to compete at Loyola U.  She has definitely earned this scholarship and the chance to compete with the big dogs of track and field."  Coach Jeff Kreil has stated many times that she is 'a very coachable athlete', while Coach Colleen Glynn says that she 'is such the perfectionist'.  Coach Schoenfeld continues, "Paulina will do great things at Loyola--it will be very exciting to watch her next year."   

The Head Coach of the Track and Field team at Loyola University, Randy Hasenbank, released the announcement of Paulina Gal recently.  He released this statement: "We are very excited to have Paulina as a future Rambler. She is very, very athletic. In addition to being one of the state's top throwers, she has competed in the 400m dash, long jump and hurdles. Paulina has also played competitive basketball and volleyball. I am very impressed with her overall ability. Under Coach McGarry's guidance, she has a great future in the throws."

 
Paulina Gal is eager to begin her career as a Rambler, where she is considering a degree in Physical Therapy.  She is a great example of one of the best student-athletes that Reavis High School has to offer.
