Watychowicz QUALIFIES for NCAA Division II Track and Field Nationals

Kenosha, WI  (May 15, 2012).  Jessica Watychowicz, a 2009 Reavis graduate, qualified for the NCAA Division II track and field Nationals in BOTH the 1500m and the 5K.  She will joining the elite NCAA Division II runners from the United States at Colorado State University in Pueblo, Colorado.  This University of Wisconsin-Parkside athlete will run the 1500m prelims on Thursday May 24 at 5:10 pm, where she needs to be in the top 9 times to make it to the finals, which is Saturday May 26 at 5:35 pm.  The 5K is a longer race, so the athletes do not run any prelims--they go strai

Hannah Howard running at North Central College

Verduzco qualifies in BOTH discus and shot put

Western Springs, IL  (May 10, 2012).  This has been one of the best seasons yet for the Girls Track and Field team.  The team competed at the Lyons Township IHSA Sectional meet last night--and when I say compete, I mean COMPETE!  The night started off on a positive note when sophomore Stephanie Verduzco tossed a 36 foot shot put, which qualified her to the State meet at Eastern Illinois University with a second place finish.  And if you think Stephanie was done--you are wrong!  She came back from a bit of a rough start in the discus on her last toss to secure another second

Reavis alum Jessica Watychowicz running well at UW-Parkside

Kenosha, WI  (May 10, 2012).  Jessica Watychowicz is a 2009 graduate from Reavis High School, who received a running scholarship from University of Wisconsin-Parkside, has done a great job so far for the NCAA Division II university.  Jessica is in her junior year, and her track resume this year has been pretty impressive, including being a captain.  Early on in the season, she ran the 1500m at the Wheaton Twilight Invitational in a time of 4:30.67.  This time broke the meet record for the 1500m, which then ranked Jessica 7th in the nation for NCAA Div II runners.  UW - Park

Girls Track ALL-CONFERENCE athletes

Burbank, IL (May 2, 2012).  All-Conference athletes were determined Tuesday at Oak Lawn High School where the SSC Red Division Conference track and field meet.  Any athlete in the Varsity race that finished first, will be All-Conference.  The 4x800m relay team started off the evening with a first place victory with a time of 10:35.52.  The team consisted of senior Hannah Howard, sophomore Sabina Bukowska, senior Sam Wolfe, and sophomore Michele Lewellen.  This time for the 4x800m relay broke the SSC Red Conference record which was held by Argo from 2009.  Pretty cool.

50th Reavis Relays

Burbank, IL (April 27, 2012).   The 50th Reavis Relays was cold, but a huge success Friday night.  The impressive efforts of Stephanie Verduzco, Mackenzie Mellenthin, and Julie Iazzetto gave the Rams a FIRST place finish in the discus relay.  And what a toss by Verduzco it was--116 feet and 8 inches.  INCREDIBLE!  And then just when Coach Kreil thought it could not get any better, Verduzco, Mellenthin, and Paulina Gal followed it up with a second place in the shot put relay.  What a night for those four girls.  A proud Coach Kreil comments, “Day by day, every girl on the th

Girls track team 10-4 and breaks best overall season record

 Oak Lawn, IL  (April 24, 2012).  THE GIRLS DID IT!  The Varsity squad beat the old season best record at Tuesday&;s meet at Oak Lawn.  The NEW season best record is 10-4, and it was accomplished with a lot of heart!  Although the Rams fell a little short against TF North, the Rams beat Oak Lawn and Argo.  What a great accomplishment for our track and field team.  Final scores were TFN 87, Reavis 78, Argo 75, and Oak Lawn 36.  Let’s carry this momentum at the Conference meet, which is next Tuesd

Girls Track and Field finish 6th out of 15 teams at the Bremen Invite

Midlothian, IL (April 21, 2012).  The team finished 7th out of 15 teams at the Bremen Invitational Saturday.  The team was led by sophomore Stephanie Verduzco.  She dominated the discus with a first place toss of over 105 feet and finished 3rd in the shot put.  Paulina Gal finished 4th in the shot put and 3rd place in the 300m hurdles.  Kelley Grzych finished 4th in the 100m hurdles and 5th in the high jump.  Nicole Maier finished 2nd in the 3200m run.  Ashlie Wiechec finished 6th in the triple jump.  The 4x800m relay of Hannah Howard, Sabina Bukowska, Susu Almousa, and Mic

Meet the Captains of the 2012 Girls Track and Field team

Burbank, IL. (April 18, 2012).   The girls track and field team announces the 2012 captains:  Sam Krawczyk, Erika Fastwolf, Kelley Grzych, and Hannah Howard.  Senior Sam Krawczyk has been a part of the track team since her freshman year.  Her main events are triple jump, 300m hurdles, and long jump.  Sam has always been a positive impact to the program, and has a great rapport with her teammates.  Senior Erika Fastwolf has been a strong addition to the team with her impressive shot put and discus ability.  She has learned
