Jim McDonough

Coach McDonough was an All-State wrestler in high school for Mt. Carmel.  He is a veteran coach, who has over two decades of coaching experience.  Coach McDonough has coached wrestling at Reavis for many years and we are excited to have him leading our freshmen team.  His work ethic and passion for the sport of wrestling will be a great assest to the program.

4 Qualifiers to Freshman/Sophomore State

Two weeks ago, 14 Reavis wrestlers competed in the Freshman/Sophomore Richards Regional. Of these, seven wrestlers advanced to the Sectional Tournament at Shepherd High School. Placing at that sectional were, Sam Almousa, 1st; Jesus Vasquez, 1st; Kyle Galason, 4th; Tino Abarca, 3rd; Mo Sbitan, 5th; and Daniel Herlihy, 5th. Sam, Jesus, Kyle and Tino will be representing Reavis in Springfield this weekend. Mo and Daniel are alternates.
 

Rams Advance 9 to Sectionals

The varsity Rams walked into Lyons Township with a "go get them attitude" and walked away with NINE Sectional Qualifiers.  The Rams wrestled thier best tournament of the season at the right time!  Regional Champs included Josh Arnold (126) and Joe Kennedy (160).  2nd place finishers were Jesus Vasques (106), Sam Almousa (132), Yusif Ismail (182), and Eduardo Marquez (285).  Guys who put their foot on the line in a win or go home match included Mutaz Matariyeh (113) 3rd Place, Matt Gonzales (120) 3rd Place, and Khal Almousa (152) 3rd Place.  All nine of these wrestlers will travel to De Lasa

JV Wrestlers Win SSC Tourney

(Oak Lawn, IL) January 30, 2011 - The JV wrestlers came from behind in the final round Saturday to capture the SSC JV Wrestling Championship at Oak Lawn High School.  The Rams, who placed fifth last year, won six of their final eight matches to edge Argo by four points for the conference title.

Arnold Crowned SSC Champ

Midlothian, IL (January 28, 2011) - Junior Josh Arnold became the first Reavis wrestler in two years to place first in the SSC Conference Tournament when he defeated Ryan Abney from Tinley Park 10-7 this afternoon at Eisenhower High School.  Arnold, who placed third in last year&;s tournament, definitely wanted to prove he was the top SSC wrestler at 103 lbs.  "I was a little nervous going into the final round," he said, "but I was confident because I had beaten Abney earlier in the season 2-1."

Wrestlers Beat Bengals; Win SSC Red Title

Burbank, IL (Janurary 24, 2011) - Congratulations to the varsity wrestling team for capturing their second consecutive SSC Red Dual Meet Championship on Thursday, January 20.  

Reavis (11-2; 16-7) needed to defeat Oak Forest to win at least a share of the conference title, but pulling out the victory looked doubtful when the Rams trailed the Bengals by six points with only two matches remaining.

Bill Breheny

Coach Breheny has been involved with wrestling since 1992.  He started his wrestling career by wrestling for the Burbank Rams thru middle school where, he then continued to wrestle for Reavis High School.  Coach Breheny placed 5th in the state tournament in 2002.
 
He continued to wrestle post high school at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville, where he completed his undergraduate degree in Special Education.
 
This is Coach Breheny's 14th year coaching for Reavis High School at the JV level.
